Writing words
Welcome to my blog!
This is my first blogging experience so bare with me.
I've been told before that I should start a blog, but never did because I didn't really think I had anything that significant to say. So what changed? Nothing really. No radical, life altering experience that gave me copious amounts of knowledge. But, for a year now I've lived in the real world as a semi-real adult and I think I've learned a thing or two.
Along with me on this journey has been my very faithful and comical cat, Ingrid. (image to the right. The day I got her, and only a few weeks old). She was a gift from my parents when I graduated college in May of 2012 and she is a riot. Now I'm not one of those crazy cat people, though I do like joking that I am, but I just really love my cat. So the premise of this blog will be pictures of Ingrid and the things that she does along with my thoughts of life events
So let's begin.
I'm a college graduate from Shippensburg University with a BA in Communication Studies. Currently I'm working for Starbucks and a non-profit organization called Servants. Two jobs. Minimum wage. College degree. Now, don't hear me complaining. I have everything I need. I say those facts distinctively to impress on you that I'm still working two minimum wage paying jobs because I, a college graduate, still have no idea what the purpose of my degree was.. or is.
Do you know how annoying that is? I'm sure many people do - it is the society in which we live. But this has been my battle for the past year and it still has yet to be won.
However, in my work and frustration I've been constantly reminded that God has placed me here for a reason and I need to be faithful where I'm at. I want to learn more of how to have the heart of a servant; how to be faithful in small tasks; how to work hard because it glorifies God; "whatever you do, work at it for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23-24). I know that this time of my life is not a waste. That He is using me in the life of my co-worker's and customers. I need to be faithful.
Am I hoping that writing this blog will give me an answer to some career/future? Kinda. Will that happen? Maybe..but probably not. There is no such thing as magic (I'm sorry, Harry. i <3 u).
But there is coffee...and that's kind of the same thing.
Until next time, I leave you with this quote from Jim Elliott and a picture of Ingrid.
"Wherever you are, be all there." ~J.E.
